An armed gang who came in some motor cycles and two motor cars have opened fire and then attacked with sharp instruments and killed a bus owner and his accomplice and had caused grievous hurt to chopped the bus owner's son with the motive of killing him too and the assailants had beat a retreat.
It was reported that the deceased are 46 year old Juan Duminda Iroshana or 'Army Manju' living down de Soysa Mawatha, Molpe, Moratuwa and 19 year old Chinthaka Sandaruwan Paranawithana

Army Manju who is supposed to be a nasty character has been subjected to this attack is a tit for tat for an assault he has committed, it was reported. Sometime back in connection with an attack he had launched on a group of people in Moratuwa, causing them grievous hurt for which a court case is pending.
A court session was in progress yesterday and this tit for tat incident has flared up after that. Army Manu who was present in court has subsequently returned home in a three-wheeler and after getting down from it had remained near the house in the company of his son, father's brother, an intimate friend of his son and wife when all of a sudden a group of armed people arrived there in several motor cycles and two motor cars and opened fire and attacking with sharp instruments, after which they had fled.
Army Manju who had sustained severe injury and admitted to hospital and a young friend of Army Manju's son had passed away when admitted while the young man alleged to be the son of Army Manju has sustained serious cut injuries to his arms and body and is in a fatal condition. Therefore after giving preliminary attention to him by doctors at Piliyandala hospital, he has been transferred to South Colombo Teaching Hospital for further treatment, it is reported.
A police officer said that a bullet which had struck deceased Army Manju in his chest has emerged from his back region while a gunshot had been aimed at the head of the other young man who died and has suffered from five serious cut injuries. Police say that assailants who came for this attack have been identified by Manju's wife and mother as revealed at preliminary inquiries. Investigations have been launched to take them into custody as soon as possible.
It was revealed that the reason for this attack is a clash which has been going on for a period of time between two factions living in Molpe, Moratuwa. About four months prior to this, a person by the name of 'Shammi' living in Molpe area, Moratuwa cut and chopped, causing grievous hurt. Army Manju who died yesterday and three others were accused of having been involved in that attack. Thus, police are of the view that a friction that existed for sometime come of this incident.
Army Manju who ha been taken into custody in connection with this incident was remanded for several months and after being released on bail has returned once again to Moratuwa only a short period before. When the case regarding that incident was taken in for hearing in Moratuwa courts yesterday, Army Manju and his clique were present. Whatever it is, when giving evidence in the presence of the media wife of the deceased has mentioned that they had come for an assault over a permit issue and that a case is pending, referring to deceased Army Manju.
