Saying that A/L Chemistry paper was released early ... an act of marketing by tuition sir?
Suspicion about some parts of the Chemistry paper in the Advanced Level Examination held yesterday (19) leaking out in Gampaha area has caused the Examinations Department and the Police to consuct a special inquiry about it.
A handbill indicating the name Jinendra Ranasinghe. a private tuition master, mentioning 'compare the question paper given at the final seminar by us with the question
paper you face now at this moment' had been printed and some questions of the Chemistry paper too were printed and at the time the students were leaving the examination hall at 11.30 after the exam was over, these handbills were distributed. The handbills were distributed yesterday at Gampaha Ratnavali Balika Vidyalaya and a number of other places too.
The students who were surprised and shocked on having all illustrations of questions 7, 9 and 10 which they had answered with great difficulty appearing in that handbill being printed exactly in that manner have complained to the parents and those responsible in that connection. As a result, some parents had notified the Examinations Department and the Examinations Commissioner had handed over the matter to the police to conduct an investigation about it.
If by chance this exam paper has leaked out; the exam has to be held once again. But at first glance the suspicion that has cropped up is that the said private tuition master has tried to lead the students astray about a question paper which he has not issued; thus using a low-grade 'marketing' strategy of drawing students sitting for the second time to attend his tuition classes.
At the moment the exam paper was distributed to students in the morning, the said tution sir had through the support of somebody or a teacher had proceeded to get one copy of the paper using the services of Viber/Whats up and had hastened to edit parts of it and then have it printed with the aid of a Duplo machine and may have distributed it by 11.30, which is not a difficult process.
It is not something that can be assumed that this person has distributed the said handbills by mentioning his own name and place where classes are held all the while knowing that he would be punished if nabbed for leaking out exam papers because of the fraud he commits. It is understood that it would be a third-grade marketing strategy which he has employed solely for the purpose of attracting a larger number of students for the forthcoming term, not thinking far about the matter. It was said that most people in Gampaha is not aware of a teacher like this. Shown below is the handbill which is supposed to have leaked out with the exam questions on the reverse
