The Late artiste Wijaya Nandasiri according to a decision he had taken some years before his death had requested in his last will that his eyes be donated after his death. As such, when he was brought to Kalubowila Hospital in a sick condition and subsequently when it was confirmed that he had passed away, a few hours before the body was

dispatched to Jayaratna Florists his eyes had been donated according to his wish. In this instance officers of the Eye Donation Society too had attended to this activity.

Wijaya's wife Devika Mihirani who made a statement to daily News Newspaper day-before-yesterday confirmed the donation. What she said was that the act of donating the eyes was something that her husband had consented several years back. "Wijaya had before his death requested that another person be given the opportunity of seeing some day. After his death I took steps to carry out his wish, " she had said.

Wijaya's last rites would be conducted this evening (11) at 4.15 at the 'Nisala Sevana' General Cemetery in Mount Lavinia. Religious rites would commence from 3.30 p.m. onwards.
