Seya Sandewmi's murder -- Updates 10

Seya's murder -- not the work of 17 year old student ....

 Suspicion over another neighbour

Still it has not been possible to cordon the definite murderers of Kotadeniyawa Seya child in relation to her mysterious murder and it has now come to a stage where the police who are continuing investigations in this connection have had to abandon their suspicions of the crime regarding the 17
year old student and his marijuana-colleague. They have persistently been saying that they are in no way involved with the crime and although it could be proved only across DNA examination reports, it is doubtful that it would be proved that way, it is reported.

In the meantime, investigations have been diverted in another direction and a wide-scale inquiry has been launched anew in search of a suspect connected to several child abuse incidents and had been lodging close to the deceased's house. The said suspect is a resident of Gampaha and he had been staying on a temporary basis during the recent past in a house situated in Badalgama Area, Kotadeniyawa belonging to a sister of his. The suspect is someone who has been bailed out having been jailed over an incident where he had abducted two female children in Gampaha Area and after subjecting them to various acts of abuse had subsequently abandoned them in a paddy field.

As he was unable to reside in Gampaha Area, he had put up temporarily at his younger sister's house. On a tip off received, several special police teams had commenced search operations and this sister of the suspect too had been questioned. Suspicions of the police had been created about this suspect on an examination over the manner in which Seya was killed. Some days back it was reported that Seya's mother's mobile phone had gone missing and two days later it was found from that very compound. It therefore left enough room for the police to develop a suspicion that it had been removed at the moment when the crime was being committed.

The Criminal Investigation Department and three special police teams are conducting investigations in this connection.
