Because of contamination of oil with water in Kelani river a water cut at Colombo, Kotte and Dehiwala:

It is reported by the Water supply & Drainage board that owing to the contamination of oil with

the water in the Kelani river,the purification of water at the the Ambatale water purification centre is unable to provide water without the contaminated water as purified.

Accordingly the Colombo Municipal council controlled area,Kotte Municipal council controlled area and the Dehiwala Mt Lavinna municipal council controlled areas have had to face a water cut.

The other areas would receive water in restricted amounts and no sooner the oil contaminated water in the Kelani River is cleaned up normal water supply to all areas would be restored. The National Water Supply & Drainage Board will resume its supply soon and regrets for the inconvenience caused to all subscribers in these areas.
