To amend the present electoral system it would take a minimum of three months - Elections Commissioner
In order to amend the present electoral system it would take at least a period of three months the
minimum was added by the elections commissioner Mahinda Desapriya.He had added this at a crucial discussion he has had yesterday the 10th in the Parliament premises with the Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremasinghe and the representatives of all other political parties.
The commissioner of elections had said that in order to change the present electoral system it would take a minimum of three months and that too by working 12 hours a day by his employees in the election commissioner’s office. He also had emphasised that there would be some matters that would be needed to be resolved when the present electoral system is changed. But a final decision has not been arrived at in regard to the proposed changes to the present system. However there need to have more meetings to obtain views of all representatives to arrive at a final decision.
