Newspaper advertisements to clear Colombo Port image

Today March 11th Wednesday, a full page letter has been published in all national newspapers of

Sri Lanka implying that this advertisement has been published by paying money.

This letter has been published by the Sri Lankan representative Company in charge of the Port City Chinese Project which has been currently suspended from further operations. Their motive for publication of this article is with the hope of clarifying the present position about the port city. Through the article ideas have been expressed against the criticism continuously aimed by environmental organisations to the effect that this project is of a harmful one to the country. Furthermore it is seen that this is an instance of'whitewashing' of some sort. It is clear that an attempt is made to change the attitude of the public about the port city by propagating this across all newspapers in Sri Lanka by this company by inserting this kind of advertisements, paying so much money.
