I am being slung mud on Facebook

Now everyone is asking if I am involved in politics - Dulmini Attanayaka

Several weekend newspapers have inquired about the sensation created over the internet in Sri Lanka a few days ago relating to the daughter of former
General Secretary of the UNP, Dulmini Attanayaka.

What she says is that she saw what was published over the internet about her and that most people are these days asking if she is coming into politics now. The response she gave to questions asked by newspapers is as follows:

What is the school where you studied?
Sirimavo Bandaranaike Balika Vidyalaya.

For how long were you abroad?
About 5 years I was there.

Why did you go there?
I follow  a Degree in Management in Britain.

Did you go to a university abroad because your father is engaged in politics?
No .... I applied for it and was chosen according to the qualifications.

There was a lot of information about you. Did you see those?
I saw those. Some had even slung mud at me. We are quite familiar with those. I don't take notice about those. But everyone is asking now whether I am coming into politics.

Actually don't you have such an idea?
I just finished my studies. I still haven't thought of coming into politics. I don't have the necessity to come for that purpose. But I want to serve the people. For that .... one doesn't need politics no.

So then how can that be done?
I can do that by even forming a social service organisation. What everybody is asking is whether I am coming into politics. I of course don't like it. Appachchi also doesn't like.

Are you going abroad again?
There's no decision about that of course .... because can't leave appachchi and go no. There's still no decision about returning to England for further studies according to the prevailing environment.

Who are the others in your family?
I have only my younger brother. He's studying at the A/L in Colombo Royal College.

Who are your friends?
They aren't categorized. Friends who were there during my schooldays are still there.

Do you give priority to fashions? Do you go to clubs?
No .... I don't go anywhere without the permission of my mother and father.

How do you spend your free-time?
.... read books etc. I watch news without fail.

What do you say about the youth in Sri Lanka?
Take examples from the previous generation. Get their guidance. Think about the country in a new way. Above all that stop slinging mud over personal issues without rhyme or reason. This slinging mud is of no use to the country.

What do you think about those coming into politics?
If coming into politics.... think of the country and work. Do service to the people. Politics in our country is funny. Some work is done in countries like England and America through politics for those countries. Today ... our country has become popular from political jokes than the cinema industry of the country.
