40th Birthday celebration of Pitiduwe Thero

The commemoration of the 40th birthday of Pitiduwe Siridhamma Thero alias Arahat Samanbadhra Thero was celebrated with an
alms-giving pinkama on behalf of 150 theros at Sadaham Ashram at Bellantara yesterday (24). It was learned that the occasion took on the shape

of a party which even went beyond a layman's birthday party!
Instead of the method of serving alms at the place where the thero is, the meals were served in buffet-style and a delicious alms-giving was prepared with pork, mutton, chicken, prawns, cuttlefish, crabs etc, for the monks who had attended this occasion and to those who participated at the lunch. At the moment when the birthday was celebrated with a cake in the shape of a conch-shell was cut, Chief of EAP Holdings too was in the company of the thero.
Young ladies decorated with a white flower adorning their head was seen serving the lunch instead of the traditional system of serving alms. Everybody who attended the occasion also received gifts at the end of the alms-giving. Seen below are some photos of the event.
