27 students hospitalised after drinking tea with urea instead of sugar!
This morning 27 school-children were admitted to Negombo Hospital for treatment. It was learned that they had suddenly become sick after drinking tea and on examining them it was found that the children were residents of a community welfare
centre and because some bags of urea used for fertilizer had been placed close to where sugar received as charity was placed, there had been a mix up and they had used the urea instead of sugar thus resulting in food poisoning.

The 27 children who were from Negombo area were of the ages between 16 and 21. What the police said was that the crowd of children were residents of a community welfare centre and had been undergoing training of a technical nature. The mix up had occured when one student had opened a bag of urea there thinking it was a bag of sugar and had spilled the contents into a container of sugar.
Doctors have said that the condition of the students admitted was out of danger.
