They gives reason for the decision

As we revealed earlier, film star Dilhani is prepared to vote for the Maithree Party while her husband singer Priyankara Perera has expressed his support
to Mahinda Rajapaksha at the Presidential Election. An important idea expressed by readers in this connection is that whoever wins on either side, the family will be benefitted.

A certain weekend newspaper visited their home and had inquired about this.

Because of the decision that 'upstairs Lamborgini and downstairs Kusagini' .... now isn't the house on fire?

Aney .... no problem. We in any case live with the understanding that his opinion is to him and my opinion is to me. For that I never blame him. Neither does he blame me.

But isn't it a responsibility to give co-operation to a decision taken by the husband?

Hm.... it's said to be so ... but such ideas don't click in modern times. Priyankara didn't prohibit no.

Did you ask Priyankara before taking this decision?

Yes .... he knows that I am coming there. But he doesn't know that I'll speak out. He has never told me not to, no. What he tells me is to speak out my opinion.

After you said that you were going for a media briefing and aired your views and returned, what did he say?

That of course he himself could not believe. So many people began to talk about it. The house actually became a different sort of place. Nobody spoke ill about it. What everybody said was that I have taken a good decision at the right time. So then Priyankara also can't speak against me. People had spoken so much to him and had wished him about me. Because of that I know that he had got a small happiness and pride about me.

Now the son's support is for the mother or father?

Son is a very independent character .... a child who could see this world in the right perspective. Specially I learn a lot from my child. We actually arrived at this decision rather late. But he of course realised those things when he was small itself. I know he's not a child who bends down to any gain or favour. 

Even inside the house there maybe a battle whether it's the betel leaf or swan, isn't it?

We of course make fun at each other. When he walks past me he says 'hansaya'. And when I go past him I say 'ah ... bulath kole'. We never enter enter into big dialogues. We stick to these decisions quite cordially. 

Dilhani is supposed to have come into this decision without expecting any sort of privileges is it? Then does Priyankara expect these things?

He doesn't know how these principles are ... in which direction the country is moving ... about things like what the Executive Rule is .... Priyankara doesn't think even a wee-bit. Those things are not relevant to him. He does his job ... comes home. Those things are not necessary for us. What Priyankara says is that we earn ... we eat and drink ... don't think much about it. But I am not like that. When I see something wrong ... I feel hurt. I can't keep my mouth shut. 

But Priyankara got close to politics before Dilhani?

Yes ... he's someone who maintained connections with politicians. He worked with them, sang for them and associated with society. I have never even spoken to any of them. Because of that I never bend down to anyone easily.

Then did Priyankara aiya get those privileges?

Even Priyankara hasn't taken. But he has been called for musical shows. According to his job he sings without any political discretion. We have never taken anything. 

Artistes who gave support to the Common Candidate tell other artistes that they are going behind others. Then Priyankara aiya also does the same thing?

According to what they say ... it could be so. But the way I see it is different. Everybody can stand on his or her opinion and independent ideas. I don't even like that word being used. Though divided, artistes are one crowd.

Definitely ... Mahinda or Maithreepala will win on the 8th. What will happen to Dilhani and Priyankara after that?
