How 'upasaka ammas' cried when.

When former President went to worship the Dalada.

former President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksha went to Kandy yesterday to pay homage to the Dalada Maligawa and when engaged in religious activities

his supporters of 'upaska ammas' responded to the former President with tears in their eyes.

The former President even had to appeal to them saying "This is the Maligawa ... Maligawa .. don't shout!" A large section of people in Kandy who came to know that he was to come there, rocked together near the Maligawa and it was even impossible for him to proceed from there.

Diyawadana Nilame Mr. Nilanga Dela had welcomed former President by offering him a basket filled with jasmine flowers. Though only Members of the Parliament Lohan Ratwatta, Dilum Amunugama and Mayor of Kandy Mahendra Ratwatta and Municipal Member Sangeeth Perera attended the occasion, it was a special feature to note that none of the Ministers attached to Kandy were present.
