DAMITHA SPEAKS ABOUT BROTHER'S CASE

I am not involved in my brother's activities - Damitha

     Damitha Abeyratna, popular film and teledrama actress says that she has no involvement with her brother's connection with the 'Haritha Wasanthaya' project of which he is suspected of having committed a financial fraud saying that profits would be given on lands cultivated. A person who had to forego 9 lakhs over this cheating complained to the police and the Magistrate of Anuradhapura ordered Damitha's brother be remanded sometime ago after considering the case in courts.

   Damitha said that she appeared in the newspaper advertisement  relevant to the 'Haritha Wasanthaya' project because of the attachment and friendship he had with his brother Sanjaya Abeyratna and of the other party and it was done on these grounds ..... but not as a means of transaction.

   Damitha goes on to say that though she appeared in that advertisement she had been unaware of the transactions taking place within the Project and that she requested by letter that that advertisement where she appeared without being paid any money be withdrawn and she had then received a response on 30 June, 2013 that her request was accepted.  Also that she never appeared for any newspaper in respect of the Project thereafter.

   She also says that she is unaware whether any party has been cheated by 'Haritha Wasanthaya' and that even if it so happened, she would not attempt to prove innocence of her brother and what she wants is to explain her own innocence as she is not connected to any of these activities.
