MRS.ASIA INTERNATIONAL -NILANGA SPEAKS

I was born in Dubai
 -NILANGA SPEAKS

Nilanga Senanayaka of Sri Lanka was successful in clinching the crown as 013 Mrs.Asia title last week. She won the crown at the Finals held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by beating contestants from 30 other Asian countries. She was able to win the Best Look category too.

This is the second occasion when Sri Lanka won the Mrs.Asia International Crown in consecutive years. Shrimal Fonseka was able to win this title last year.

Nilanga Senanayaka is a fashion model by profession and is 31 years old. She hails from Kalutara district and was married in the year 2000. She maintains a beauty parlour by the name of Salon Nilu.

She has explained her ideas to a weekend newspaper.

"I was born in Dubai. Appachchi died when I was small. It was my mother who did everything for me. Originally we were in Rajagiriya. I was schooling at Nugegoda Samudradevi Balika Vidyalaya. Since leaving school I have taken up to studying dancing for 5 years. I got married in 2000 and my husband is Arjuna Senanayaka. He gave me a big support for this victory of mine. After marriage we were both in the field of modelling. I even won the Best Model Award in 2002. We have 2 daughters. One is 12 and the other is 6 years old. Wasana Dantanarayana, Michael Wijesooriya and Venuka all helped me in this victory. I would like to participate in commercials and teledramas in the future, after considering them well. I actually feel very happy because I was able to bring great honour to Sri Lanka after Rosy Senanayaka. The fact that Shrimali and I were able to bring an award like this to Sri Lanka .... and that too is something that gives me happiness.

Because I had to compete with 30 countries, I felt guilty. When I was chosen for the final 5 with contestants from the Philippines, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore, some fear came into me. At other times we contested fearing India ..... but this time India was not chosen for the Finals .... but I had a belief in victory".
