SRI LANKAN CRICKETERS' CURRENT SITUATION AT IPL

What happened to our players who went for IPL?

  •      Sangakkara who flopped consistently, out from captainship
  •      Mahela's team loses all five matches
  •      Tickets still being issued to Malinga
  •      Ajantha Mendis still in pavilion

Reports from India say that the performance of some players who left Sri Lanka for the IPL tour after being advised not to go, have gives a poor performance. Sangakkara, captain of Sunrise Hyderabad Team had scored 15,16,23,28 and 2 respectively in the 5 innings. As a result of this performance, he had declined participating in the Poone Warriors match played yesterday and also bade goodbye to his captainship, bestowing it to Cameron White. Quinten de Coch was called in to fill the gap of Sangakkara while the latter kept away from the match.

It was reported that this situation had arisen in the last tournament. Lasith Malinga being the most outstanding bowler in the past years was not able to play in the earlier matches due to injury, but had secured only 2 wickets in the 3 matches he had played so far.

Mahela Jayawardena who had been the captain of Daredevils had so far played 5 matches and lost all five and was unsuccessful apart from being last in the bonus points list.

Ajantha Mendis who had gone up as high as 9 million from among those who left for the IPL with the hope of displaying a fine performance has so far not been able to play even a single match, which by itself is a special point worthy of mention.
