Attorney general yesterday (23) ordered the director of Colombo crime division yesterday (3) to take steps in obtaining a warrant and to take Embilipitiya high court judge, Mr. Gihan Pilapitiya into custody over an incident of having conspired to prepare false evidence by getting together with Mp Mr. Ranjan Ramanayaka.

According to what is revealed from Mr. Ranjan Ramanayaka's voice cuts is what appears is that he is
getting together and interfering in activities of judges of the judiciary and it is observed that judge Mr. Gihan Pilapitiya has got together with Mr. Ranjan Ramanayaka and has conspired to prepare false evidence as observed from investigation reports under which circumstances the attorney general has issued such instructions of arrest. President's counsel, Mr. Dappula de Livera has given instructions to director of Colombo crime division to commence a separate case against Mp Mr. Ranjan Ramanayaka and judge, Mr. Gihan Pilapitiya; coordinating officer of attorney general, senior attorney at law, Miss Nishara Jayaratna stated.

Having taken into consideration certain factors emerging from discussions regarding analysis of aforementioned voice cuts; the attorney general has issued such instructions , said senior attorney at law of state, Miss Nishara Jayaratna, further gave instructions to director of Colombo crime division to secure a warrant from court and subsequently to take judge, Mr. Gihan Pilapitiya into custody. Where this incident is concerned, it is the opinion of the attorney general that Mp Mr. Ranjan Ramanayaka has made undue influence on the duties of high court judges in the course of carrying out their powers or duties without any legal authority, thus making an impact on their duties and thus guilty of provisions stated according to sub-division 2 of 111 of the constitution (as per 17th amendment) while information was received that judge, Mr. Gihan Pilapitiya is found guilty of clause 190 of the penal code, senior state counsel, Miss Nishara Jayaratna mentioned.
