Gotabhaya freed from Medamulana museum court case ... saying that there can't be court cases against president!

As deputy solicitor general Mr. Dilip Peris who appeared on behalf of the attorney general has brought forward points before court saying that the constitution has no powers to carry on a court case against an executive president , the case filed in connection with alleged misappropriation of funds when erecting the Medamulana D.A. Rajapaksa Museum, Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was exonerated from the case pending against him. 

This court case which was being dragged continuously when heard today (21) at the three-member
special high court  judges in Colombo this order was passed. Because of this the passport of Mr. Gotabhaya which was in court custody preventing foreign travel was ordered to be released and it was also ordered that the cash bail deposited by those who appeared on behalf of Mr. Rajapaksa  was ordered to be released. 

This case was filed against former secretary of defence Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa ad 7 others for having allegedly misappropriating funds to the extent of Rs. 33.9 million belonging to the government and in order to prevent this case being heard in court Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has on several occasions tried to obtain interim orders from high courts. 

Under these circumstances Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa faced an unfavourable   situation where the court case was concerned. It was ordered that as for the other 6  accused, courts be informed on or before  10th January.
