The deceased child had been studying at Balangoda Vidyaloka Madhya Maha Vidyalaya in the 11th grade. There had been constant conflicts in the house concerned and such a clash has taken place in the house last fifth too. This 17 year old child had jumped to the midst to prevent a blow from the handle of a mammoty aimed at his mother and it had been on that occasion the handle of the mammoty had struck him.

It had struck the boy's head and there had been a heavy flow of blood; however the parents had not taken action to give the child any medical attention and had instead only some balm on the bruise.
