Minister sounds about future changes in the Sri Lanka cricket team who returns to island

Minister Harin Fernando has mentioned about major changes to be effected in future in relation to the Sri Lankan team who have returned to their motherland after having participated in the first round matches of the world cup played in England.

"I also was waiting till the world cup tournament came to a close. Now is the best time to make changes in the teams. But I will not poke my finger into cricket administration. I hope to appoint a
permanent operations committee where even the sports minister will not be able to put his finger into the Sri Lanka cricket team. I further hope to appoint stalwarts of cricket like Sangakkara and Mahela who are right royally accepted by the country. A majority of coaches and advisors presently attached to the Sri Lankan team will have to go away after the world cup. The service of the bowling coach and the batting coach at present in the team in particular  ... We do not intend extending their services. If the main coach is not prepared to leave ... we cannot expel him by force as such. But if that happens; we will have to inevitably appoint a coach above him. I think ... with the end of the world cup tournament, to terminate Mr. Asanka Gurusingha's services services with the Sri Lankan team.

I do not believe that we had an honourable win in the world cup tournament. Even when it is said that we are a team who had reaped a setback ... we managed to win three matches. In the same way, we were able to find a good captain. We discovered some good players in the form of Avishka Fernando", quipped the minister.
