ISUI convenor in custody for causing obstruction near parliament roundabout

A protest was organised near parliament roundabout today by inter university students' federation expressing that government should decide to fold up the anti-terrorist prevention act after observing their protest in a manner that the public would br put into inconvenience. 

The protestors who have entered into any dialogue whatsoever about reasons for this protest and then resorting to behave as 'union protestors' by going ahead to break barriers in their customary style and
as usual go through the process of experiencing a barrage of water caand tear gas cannons. 

The protestors have commenced this protest march from near  University of Arts and thereafter entering the parliament road across parliament roundabout had then tasted a water and tear gas attack in the process had achieved their objectives by thus creating a big traffic jam in the vicinity. During the period when this protest was in operation -- particularly a large number of people who were heading home from Battaramulla were thus inconvenienced as a result. 

It has been recorded on videos of how police officers and the common man on the street received injuries while invalid persons who took some measure of the tear gas attack as well as small children who were travelling in three-wheelers were subjected to great inconvenience. 

In the meantime, under charges of serious aggressive behaviour, the person called Mahil Bandara Dehideniya of inter-university students' federation was taken into custody, police informed.
