Story of Lakshman Yapa and son ...
helping Madush!

Attorney at Law, Lakshika Withanage on behalf of the Abeywardena family has forwarded two letters of demand over the statement that member of parliament Lakshman yapa Abeywardena and his son who was keeping intimate relationships with underground gang leader Makandure Madush who was nabbed in Dubai and had even saved him and helped him to leave the country and that legal measures will be taken in that connection.

On the damage of goodwill done to him and son, a compensation of Rs. 900 million has been claimed
from state minister Mr. Nalin Bandara Jayamaha on a statement across the media to the effect that Lakshman Yapa and son Pasanda has maintained close relationships with Madush. It is mentioned in the letter of demand that Mr. Nalin Bandara has made some false and derogatory statements against her client by participating in the television programme 'Balaya' broadcast over 'Hiru' channel last 7th. It further appears in the letter of demand that serious damage has been committed to the reputation of her two clients by saying that it is her client, member of parliament, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena who has created the underground character Makandure Madush and that both her clients have prepared passports for him to leave the country. Thus it has been pointed out that this is a baseless comment and that because of that statement both her clients as well as members of their family are subjected to suffer from terrible mental pressure and stress and further has caused serious damage to their goodwill as well.

Whatever it is, when delving into this once more, it is found that when viewing Hiru TV 'Balaya' programme that state minister Nalin Bandara reveals no name of any particular individual either. This is how he has mentioned about it: "When going back to the history of Madush, I should start with who creates this person called Madush. In the district of Matara in the South ... I will not mention the name; it is a former minister who created Madush. He functioned as a state minister of the national government too.

I will say with responsibility that here ... we saw that it was he and his son who helped this person to leave overseas to get the passport that he is now using. The police provided security for him to come to attend this minister's son's wedding. Everybody was alert to take this man into custody. This situation came to be known to this man and somehow or the other it was missed. Then after that his father's funeral took place. On that occasion also he got away with it because we took great effort to stifle things. Anyhow it is that way that this man was brought up. Madush is not such a big character as such; but it because of political support that he attained that strong position".
