"My shop which Madush is supposed to have given is bankrupt ... I have to close it down at end of this month" -- Niroshan

Member of parliament, Niroshan Premaratna to whom accusation is aimed that businesses ave been launched by taking money from Makandure Madush, has said the following yesterday: "Most social media and some mass media have blamed me. Most of the accusations are targetted in connection with the business I am conducting in Thalawathugoda. 'I have bought a land from Thalawathugda at million 2.2 per perch and it is about 8 crores in value. From where is 8 crores to me?' They ask.

They do not accept the speech I gave in parliament. There are other accusations. First of all I must
say that I did not buy a land in Thalawathugoda nor have I started a business after putting up a building. This is the first lie that all of them said. The next lie is that the total value of all this is Rs. 8 crores. The third lie is that Makandure Madush gave this 8 crores.

To carry on this business I have not taken 5 cents from drug pedlars or the underworld. I bought a building for rent to do this business. It was a building belonging to an Australian doctor that I bought on rent. It was from the month of September in 2017 that I bought it on rent. But 6 months ... till March, 2018 I was stuck not being able to start the business. Because for lack of cash. Later I spoke to Bank of Ceylon and asked for a loan of 3 crores. To get the loan it was necessary to have a property as bond. Then a friend of mine called Sangeeth provided the bond from a property belonging to him. As such, after taking a loan of 3 crores in the month of January, 2018 I launched the business in March, 2018.

Anybody can find answers to all questions like, what is loan Niroshan got by going to the parliament complex branch of Bank of Ceylon, what was kept as mortgage, what is the   payment paid monthly? Anyway because of the prevalent collapse of the economy of the country, this turned out to be a losing business. It was not possible to pay the monthly rent of the building. Those of the building took steps to deduct that sum of money from the 'key money'. I failed to meet payments to suppliers in time. The bank premium was paid with great difficulty. By now it is in a position where this business could not be carried on any further. Though I made a request to provide me an opportunity to carry on business till April if at all possible; but I still haven't got a reply to that. Here is the letter sent by the lawyer to vacate the building by February 28th. What is happening here is that bringing up a topic and flinging mud!"
