Wimal loses litigation in case filed by Tilwin -- court orders to pay 10 million damages!

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna has received all relief and wins case filed against parliamentarian Wimal Weeravansha for having published the book 'Neththa venuvata eththa' by utilising documentary material of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna. Thereby the court has issued orders that damages amounting to Rs. 10 million be paid to Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna and to prohibit sale of the said book. The judgement was given in this instance to the effect that the defendant has violated
the Intellectual Property Act through this publication. 

This book 'Neththa venuvata eththa' book was printed by making use of documents belonging to the central executive committee of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna by distorting matters after parliamentarian Wimal Weeravansha was expelled from Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna in the year 2007. On that occasion on behalf of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna its chief secretary Mr. Tilwin Silva took legal action against it and an interim order was obtained against selling the book. 

Judgement was given in open court today to provide all relief demanded by Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna at the time of filing the case against Wimal Weeravansha.
