For what purpose did Gota go to Temple Trees and meet Ranil?
Former Defence Minister Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has gone to Temple Trees last evening (1) and has had a discussion with United National Party leader Mr. Ranil Wickremasingha, political sources confirm. Whatever for what purpose that discussion was held has not been publicized officially and it had been in connection with the subject of peacefully settling the political mess up that has emerged in the country, it is understood.
Two opinions keep circulating in the social media about the said discussion. Information sourcesclosely connected to the UNP have reported that Gotabhaya has told Ranil that the latter has no majority where MPs are concerned at his dispense, and therefore has requested him to arrive at a suitable solution that does not throw the country into a state of instability. Equally so Ranil in response has asked that when parliamentary sessions be resumed a decision would be taken after gathering there.
On the other hand, what sources close to Mr. Rajapaksa say in connection with the talks is that the discussions revolved only around the subject of Mr. Ranil Wickremasingha's security and that if he is to leave Temple Trees ... what security measures he would wish.
