Propaganda Secretary and member of parliament Mr. Vijitha Herath has mentioned that support of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna would be given to former Prime Minister Mr. Ranil Wickremasingha at the forthcoming vote taken; thus at the party leader's meeting headed by Speaker Mr. Karu Jayasuriya a short while ago. He has added that his motive is to challenge President Mathripala Sirisena by deploring his decision.

Leader of the opposition Sambandan and party leaders such as Rauf Hakeem and Badurdeen were present at this party leaders' meeting held in parliament today and information received by now, and a situation where support of TNA too had been for Ranil. Under the circumstances where support of all 6 MPs who represent Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna who so far were expected to be Independent now going towards Ranil Wickremasingha show signs that Ranil Wickramasingha would acquire a majority.

In the meantime Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has mentioned at this meeting that President has agreed with him that the day when parliament would resume sessions not on 13th but the 7th. Whatever it is, that date has still not been officially announced.
