There were various news items in the past few days in private media partial to the government media and the government that both Rauff Hakeem and Rishad Badiudeen will be offering their support to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. It was further announced that it had been proposed to sign an agreement with government and after it is signed in a few more day's time the 12 of them will be added to their relevant positions as ministers subsequent to their authoritative powers. Minister S.B. Dissanayaka too has said that the talks were successful. However, after their stand was clarified, as a strategy to evade being 'baited', former
Minister Rauff Hakeem and his group of 7 together with former Minister Rishad Badiudeen inclusive of his 5, all totalling a number of 12 had set off on a tour to Mecca.

The two of them had as final stance informed very clearly that they will support the UNP and had also condemned President's decision as unconventional.
