"I was not dismissed because of my mouth" -- Lasith Malinga

Speedster Lasith Malinga says that he constantly pressurised authorities by displaying his skill in relation to his bowling. Malinga who joined the Sri Lankan pool after 16 months expressed his ideas at a press meeting held before his departure for the Asian Cup tour.

"I was continuously playing. The authorities were watching the way I was bowling and was applying
'pressure' about my skills. At the end I got an opportunity to play for the national team.

When questioned about some verbal attacks of Lasith Malinga and losing his position in the team as a consequence, he responded saying "as a player it is important to play in a respectable manner. I am at this moment a player. My sole intention is to safeguard Sri Lanka Cricket with the other fifteen players. Therefore I shall not stop talking on behalf of Sri Lanka Cricket. What I have to say is, not to speak about the 'aratuwa' by touching the 'poththa' from outside in that what is said". Lasith Malinga further says that he had not spoken anything beyond Cricket and that what he said an year back has now been proved right.
